Ferrari has unveiled the SF90 XX Stradale and SF90 XX Spider, the first road-going cars in the XX program. These special limited series vehicles, based on the SF90 Stradale, push the performance boundaries of Ferrari's road cars to new heights. Only 799 SF90 XX Stradale and 599 SF90 XX Spider models will be built.
Drawing from Ferrari's experience in developing special versions like the 488 Pista and 812 Competizione, as well as the XX Program, which offers extreme track-only cars, the SF90 XX Stradale and SF90 XX Spider combine the engineering concepts of both programs. The SF90 XX Stradale is based on the SF90 Stradale supercar and offers enhanced performance with 1,030 cv and radical aerodynamic solutions, including a fixed rear spoiler that generates 530 kg of downforce at 250 km/h.
The SF90 XX Spider combines track performance with open-top driving pleasure. It features the same aerodynamic solutions as the SF90 XX Stradale and is equipped with Ferrari's Retractable Hard Top, which can be deployed or retracted in just 14 seconds, even while driving at speeds up to 45 km/h.
Both the SF90 XX Stradale and SF90 XX Spider feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The V8 internal combustion engine is integrated with three electric motors, two on the front axle and one between the engine and gearbox at the rear. This setup allows for a maximum output of 1,030 cv, setting a new performance benchmark.
The SF90 XX Stradale's V8 turbo engine has been optimized for increased efficiency and power, with enhancements such as polished inlet and exhaust ducts, increased compression ratio, and weight reduction. The engine sound has also been redesigned to deliver a fuller and richer sound, emphasizing the higher frequencies of the Ferrari V8.
The electric motors provide a maximum output of 233 cv and are powered by a high-performance lithium-ion battery. The car offers a 25 km range in full-electric mode and can reach a maximum speed of 135 km/h without the internal combustion engine.
Both models retain the 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox from the SF90 Stradale but feature updated gear-shift logic for more engaging acceleration profiles. The aerodynamics of the SF90 XX Stradale have been optimized to deliver the most efficient performance in Ferrari's road car history, with double the maximum downforce of the SF90 Stradale.
The SF90 XX Stradale offers improved cooling and airflow management, with redesigned front radiators, underbody layout, and side louvres. The rear fixed wing, developed from the XX Program cars, contributes to the car's aerodynamic performance. The front splitter, front diffuser, and rear diffuser have also been redesigned to enhance downforce and minimize drag.
In terms of vehicle dynamics, the SF90 XX Stradale offers seamless transitions between electric and hybrid modes, with coordinated control of the electric front axle, 8-speed DCT gearbox, rear-mounted electric motor, and V8 engine. The car features Torque Vectoring, Energy Recovery, and Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer 2.0, which is active in all driving modes.
The SF90 XX Stradale also introduces the ABS EVO controller, which improves performance and repeatability in high-performance braking. The 6W-CDS sensor provides more accurate data for vehicle dynamic controls, and the extra boost control logic delivers additional power during corner exits.
Overall, the SF90 XX Stradale and SF90 XX Spider represent the pinnacle of Ferrari's road cars, combining the performance of special series models with the extreme engineering of the XX Program. With limited production numbers and groundbreaking technology, these cars offer.
