Ferrari has unveiled its latest One-Off creation, the Ferrari KC23, commissioned by one of the brand's dedicated collectors. The KC23 is a futuristic track car based on the architecture of the 488 GT3 Evo 2020, a highly successful racing car. It combines elegance and aggressive racing characteristics through two different configurations.
Designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre, led by Flavio Manzoni, the KC23 inherits the layout, chassis, and engine of the 488 GT3 Evo 2020. The 488 GT3 has an impressive racing history, with over 530 victories and 119 championships, making it the most successful racing Ferrari ever.
The KC23 stands out with its dual configuration, displaying clean and sleek lines when stationary and transforming into an aggressive racing stance when in motion. It features groundbreaking aerodynamic solutions, such as motorized air intake vents and a large rear wing.
The design of the KC23 aimed to create a radical one-off car free from homologation constraints, presenting timeless lines and offering a glimpse into the future of supercars. The car's lines, glass surfaces, and light clusters were completely redesigned, resulting in a monolithic beauty that appears sculpted from a single block of metal. The side air intakes open automatically, giving the car a dynamic and lifelike appearance.
The KC23 retains the performance of the 488 GT3 Evo 2020 despite its different silhouette. Custom panels with kinematics activated by the engine improve downforce, balance the car aerodynamically, and provide the necessary intake air for cooling. The butterfly doors, opening vertically, add to the car's distinctive look, similar to the iconic LaFerrari.
The KC23 features seamless integration of glass surfaces with the bodywork, creating an aeronautics-inspired dome effect. The Gold Mercury livery, achieved through a specially developed aluminum paint, gives the car a luminous gleam that changes with the lighting conditions.
Inside the cabin, the design remains close to the 488 GT3 Evo 2020, with the exception of door panels and passenger-side dashboard finish. The KC23's specific seats trimmed in Alcantara® exude elegance. The car incorporates a video camera system for rearward visibility, allowing for the removal of traditional wing mirrors and preserving the clean lines of the flanks.
The KC23 will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and will be subsequently displayed at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello. It joins the exclusive group of bespoke cars in Ferrari's lineup, representing the pinnacle of the brand's personalization strategy.
Ferrari's Special Projects program aims to create unique and exclusive models, known as "One-Offs," tailored to the client's specifications. Each project involves close collaboration between the client and Ferrari's Styling Centre, taking around two years to complete. The result is a one-of-a-kind Ferrari that embodies the brand's excellence and bears the iconic Prancing Horse logo.
