The FFZERO1 is an avant-garde concept car designed by Faraday Future that showcases the innovative design and engineering principles set to define their future production vehicles. According to Richard Kim, head of design at Faraday Future, the project allowed designers to explore new vehicle forms, proportions, and packaging that will influence forthcoming models.
Connectivity is a cornerstone of the FFZERO1, reflecting Faraday Future's user-centric approach to product development. The vehicle integrates a smartphone into the steering column, blurring the lines between technology and automotive engineering. This setup could enable the smartphone to act as the primary interface between the vehicle and driver, both inside and outside the car. Additionally, the FFZERO1 is envisioned to be fully autonomous, capable of meeting its driver at the track and executing perfect laps autonomously to help improve the driver’s performance.
The interior design of the FFZERO1 follows Faraday Future's philosophy of designing from the inside out. It features a predominantly white, carbon fiber-finished cabin, offering a clean and serene aesthetic that contrasts sharply with traditional race cars. Inspired by NASA research, the single-seat configuration provides a comfortable, weightless position for the driver, enhancing circulation by placing the body at a 45-degree angle. The propeller-shaped, asymmetric instrument panel extends into the Halo Safety System, which includes integrated head and neck support, as well as oxygen and water supplies through a prototype helmet that can collect biometric data from the driver.
Externally, the FFZERO1 employs lightweight materials and composites on the Variable Platform Architecture (VPA), creating driver-focused proportions and a highly aerodynamic teardrop profile by pushing the canopy forward. A distinctive "UFO line" encircles the vehicle, giving it an otherworldly appearance. The design also includes aero tunnels that allow air to flow through the vehicle, significantly reducing drag and improving battery cooling.
Performance-wise, the FFZERO1 is designed for the racetrack, equipped with four motors—one at each wheel—delivering over 1000 horsepower. This setup allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under three seconds and reach a top speed exceeding 200 mph, positioning the FFZERO1 as a high-performance electric vehicle prototype.
