The Tropica Roadster was developed and offered by Renaissance Cars Inc. between 1991 and 1996.
Zebra Motors, Inc. was founded to further refine, develop, and put into production the "Zebra" electric sports car. ZEBRA purchased the proprietary rights, know-how, and working prototypes of the electric vehicle from Renaissance Cars. Over $4 million was spent on the research, development, testing, and construction of this electric car. It was intended to become a platform for the world's first, low-cost, efficient electric sports car.
Lastly, the company was sold again and renamed Xebra Motors in 1999. It disappeared soon in ~2001.
