In Birmingham, in 1998 Eric Broadley (founder of the Lola brand) along with PB Design presented the Trident prototype. In 1999 Eric Broadley established the company Trident Sportcars Ltd., which from 1999-2002 built 11 prototypes of the Trident Iceni roadster. In December 2002 the company name was changed to Broadley Performance Vehicles, and the vehicle's name to Broadley 1-37. In 2004 new company Trident Performance Vehicles presented a similar, but structurally new Trident Iceni coupe, with a hard, transparent roof. The new Trident Iceni Magna model was introduced in 2014.
