Quarkus is a French automotive startup founded in 2020 by Damien Alfano, specializing in ultra-lightweight, high-performance sports cars. The company emphasizes minimalism and innovation, drawing its name from “quark” to reflect fundamental simplicity. Its first concept, the P1, laid the groundwork for future models. The follow-up P2 was a track-focused machine with a carbon fiber chassis, weighing just 550 kg and powered by a supercharged, mild-hybrid 1.0L engine producing 250 hp—delivering a power-to-weight ratio comparable to that of a Bugatti Veyron.
In 2024, Quarkus introduced the P3, a 600 kg mid-engine sports car featuring a carbon fiber, Kevlar, and titanium chassis with a 296 hp mild-hybrid powertrain. The P3 competed in the 2024 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, driven by Bruce Jouanny with support from record-holder Romain Dumas. Although the team did not finish the race, their entry marked a major step for the company in motorsport. Quarkus continues to push the boundaries of performance through lightweight engineering and innovation.
