Established in 1810 by Peugeot family, the manufactory started to build bicycles in 1885. In the year 1889 Armand Peugeot and Leon Serpollet built a small number of steam-engine vehicles. One year later, a prototype of the Peugeot Type 2, with an engine licensed from Daimler, was released. In 1925 Peugeot bought Bellanger manufactory, in 1927 the firm named DeDion Bouton, in 1950 – Chenard Walcker, in 1976 – Citroën and finally established the PSA Group – the biggest car producer in France.
