Jaguar is one of the most renowned and reputable car manufacturers of luxurious vehicles. Established in 1922 the Swallow Sidecar, in 1927 the company started producing of bodies for such companies as Austin, Morris, Standard, Fiat, Swift and Cowley. In 1931 it launched a line of sport cars under the brand name SS (model I), and in 1935 – SS Jaguar. In 1945 both the company and vehicle names were changed to Jaguar. In 1960 Jaguar bought the famous English Daimler (Daimler cars were produced in the years 1896–2002). In 1966 a merger with BMC took place (resulting in BMH), and two years later with Leyland/Rover (forming BLMC). In 1984 Jaguar and Daimler left the declining government consortium BL Ltd. The resulting private company was bought in 1989 by Ford, which in 1999 formed its branch under the name of Premier Automotive Group, gathering under its wings such firms as: Lincoln, Volvo, Jaguar, Daimler, Aston Martin and since 2000 – Land Rover.
