In 1922, Soichiro Honda opened a garage in Tokyo, and in 1948 the Honda Motor Co., and started the production of motorcycles. In 1962, at the Tokyo Motor Show, a prototype of a small sports car called the S360 / S500 was presented. In 1963, series production of the small T360 pick-up and the S500 roadster was started.
