In December 2003 the companies of MTM and Nitec Engineering, in cooperation with the University of Mannheim established the GMG joint venture, which in 2005 presented the coupe GMG Apollo model. The vehicle has been manufactured from January 2005 under the new company of Gumpert. The vehicle was equipped with MTM Audi V8 4.2l 650 HP engine, and had the top speed of 360 km/h and reached 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds. At the 2007 Geneva Car Show the tuned versions of Apollo Sport equipped with MTM Audi V8 4.2l 700 HP engine and Apollo Race equipped with MTM Audi V8 4.2l 800 HP engine were also released. The company went bankrupt in 2013 and was later revived by new Apollo company in 2016. At the Geneva Motorshow of the same year Apollo N was shown, but it was soon dropped in favour of the Intensa Emozione project.
