In the year 1919 Andre Citroen started the production of a popular model – the type A. In the years 1955–65 Citroen took over the oldest French Automotive company – Panhard and Levasser. In 1974 Peugeot bought 38,2% and in 1976 the remaining 61,8% of Citroen shares.
